Reconnect

These last two years were some of the most challenging for our generation... We had to live in isolation, without contact with family and friends. Many of us have had to learn to live alone, separate from the people we care about and go through many changes in the way we live and in our relationships.

In addition to the pandemic, we are facing, worldwide, extreme polarization in terms of political views, between right and left, values being put in check, polarization between pro-vaccination and anti-vaccination, causing families to be divided, friends turning against each other, communities against communities.

This has been causing disruptions that add even more to the chaos caused by this virus and its mutations… viral mutations and even more, “mutations” in our behaviours… have you ever thought about it? There was a lot of talk about the new normal until recently, but with each step towards the process of adapting to a supposed normality, another wave of chaos comes!... how to process all this and establish a new routine, set goals, organize our lives, our day to day?

"We must prioritize what is important for us as individuals and as social beings that we are: our relationships, our real connections."

As I pondered this over the new year, the word RECONNECT came to my heart. Before we even try to predict what has proved to be unpredictable, we must prioritize what is important for us as individuals and as social beings that we are: our relationships, our real connections. This is what will bring us certain stability back, the certainty that we are not completely alone.

And I see this need to RECONNECT on many levels, starting with the reconnection with our faith, with God, with ourselves, with our loved ones, and with our community, as the great opportunity to situate ourselves and bring us back to a better life in which harmony, love and a sense of belonging can lead us to reveal and unveil our purpose or help us to reformulate the path that may have become unfeasible after so many circumstances beyond our control.

Little by little, we are seeking to rebalance ourselves, especially at the beginning of the year, which is a time for reflection and setting goals. After this period that we went through so many lockdowns, isolation, disconnections, it is important to RECONNECT ourselves with our own feelings, emotions, rethink our priorities, and only then make decisions about what we want for our lives.

We know that this reconnection is, above all, an internal, personal, and extremely subjective act. Only you can do this for yourself and that starts with a change in worldview, paradigms, and habits that we take for granted.

Make this year a year to RECONNECT. Reconnecting with ourselves, with our loved ones, with our community. We all need to feel like we belong and knowing this place inside and out is how we know our purpose and take ownership of it, to walk with joy and fulfilment!

Have a wonderful year of RECONNECTION!
