One day at a time...

How are your emotions? How are you dealing with that at this moment?

There’s lot of changes happening in the world in the way we think, in the way information is getting to us. While we are connected on social media, TV, and in all mainstream media, we have been bombarding with an enormous number of agendas, concepts, ideologies. Finding a balance and be able to filter information to what would be useful to you, is being such a huge effort! I’ve been wondering how everyone is feeling with all the news of the pandemic, boarders, quarantines, vaccines in all its scientific differences (don’t you think we all have been learning a great stuff about how to produce vaccines, how to storage it, how efficient it is, how does it work in your body and so on?), or watching the horrors of countries in Africa, or India... or Brazil, where more than 500M people are dead today, and growing... Is Australia the lucky country? We are maybe efficient in our policies, although we will have to deal with the consequences of leaving our own citizens stranded... but nevertheless, we also must acknowledge the efforts to keep the country safe – I was stranded Overseas myself for 9 months last year - I particularly like to say I admire what NSW has been doing during this time in terms of reasonability in treating this very hard matter.

I read several articles about how the economy bounce back after wars and pandemics, other articles about the “new normal”, about the “great reset”, and you count... articles, interviews, news, experts of all ways of life and disciplines... do we really know what is going to happen? How are your crystal ball working? Mine is saying our clues, and prognosis might be not enough to address everything that is about to come. And why I say that?

Because our brain is constantly trying to anticipate events based in what we know.

But this time it seems that most of prognosis of a quick recovery has been failing. The economy didn’t get back in the so call V or U shape yet. People still dying. China is dominating the world economy (no change, right?), and we are still highly dependent on them. And I say we, in a broad sense, where many countries are in the same position. One thing I can guess, based in part on what I can sense, is that we are heading to a new paradigm ahead in “learning to learn” again and again...permanently, in a scenario of a constant change. I believe this period in history is changing the way we perceive life and the way we build relationships.

While you are having to deal with new ways of living, work, love, trust and so much more, you are having to reevaluate what is the life you want, what are the people you want around you, and how do you want to build your future. In this perspective, your future is basically depending on your choices. Our brain is capable to adapt to everything, but the first thing it does is to try to anticipate what is coming but when we fail to do so, then we try to develop some models about how it could be. What if you just wait and leave the day by day, loving your family, loving your friends, developing some healthier relationships at home, at work, and in your community. Because that's what we desperately need at this moment. We need to look after ourselves. We need to look after the people we love. We need to look after our community. Have you asked yourself how you are dealing with your own emotions? Let's start dealing with how we're feeling today. Taking one step at a time! I was feeling overwhelmed like I said at the beginning of this article, but right now I've decided to just look inside myself, just look around me and acknowledge what is happening in my family in my surroundings and take one step at a time to make us feel more comfortable in our own way. There are many people that need you right now. Instead of keep speculating, what if we can just step back a little, and leave one day at a time, in the present, in the now? #monicasweeneycoaching #coaching #mentoring #businesscoach #newnormal #neuroplasticity #emotions #onedayatatime #extendeddisc #teamwork #workplacedesign #careerchange
